Born in Dallas, Texas in 1946, Marion spent most of his life in this area. In 1956, his family moved to Snyder, Texas where he lived for four years before returning to Dallas. Marion graduated from Kimball High School and the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). He interrupted his college education to serve four years in the United States Navy that included serving aboard the guided missile destroyer, USS Sellers DDG-ll. He was honorable discharged in 1972, and returned to UTA where he graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He graduated from the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking in 1982.
Marion accepted a position at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas as a junior assistant examiner in 1975 and left as a commissioned examiner in 1981, to accept a position as an assistant vice president with a large bank holding company. He was eventually promoted to senior vice president before returning to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas as a supervisory examiner in 1986. He was promoted to Director of Bank Holding Company Inspections in 1989 and to an assistant vice president in 1990. He has given many presentation to national organizations and participates in numerous Federal Reserve System projects and task groups. Marion is married with two stepchildren and several grandchildren. |
