"My senior year at JFK, I met the love of my life, my future husband Sulaiman who was an international student learning English at UT. We spent the next few years studying in Michigan, Dallas, and Oregon. Then we moved to Kuwait where we lived for 20 years and raised three remarkable kids.
"When Kuwait was invaded, we were here in Dallas visiting family. We decided then to stay so that our children could finish their educations here. My husband had another couple of years working in Kuwait until he was elegible for retirement; and we managed with some really long distance commuting. While that was going on, I decided it was a great opportunity to continue my education. So I completed my horticulture degree, which has become more of an avocation than vocation. "I have worked for the last 6 years for the DCCCD, the last three at the Dallas Telecollege - the Online Campus for the Community College District. And sadly, four years ago we lost Sulaiman, who had spent three years dealing with kidney failure. Now I'm looking for new directions for the next chapter of this journey." |
