"I have been married to my wonderful wife Carol Beth for right at 29 years. She has the good nature to put up with this "pack rat". Beth is a secretary of Spring Valley United Methodist Preschool. We have two children, our son David, Jr. age 24, and daughter Jennifer, age 15, who both keep our lives filled with never ending challenges."
After graduating from Kimball in 1966, David went to and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1971 (class of 1970). Like many others before him, David was able to cram a four year curriculum into five years. He started out in Mechanical Engineering, then changed to Architecture after Chemistry devastated him, and finally graduated in Building Construction, after tiring of the 24 hour work sessions required by the Design professors. David also was a member of the Corps of Cadets and upon graduation earned the rank of Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Infantry. He later gained the rank of Captain by the time he left the service. David has been busy with the raising of his children. He has been an Indian Guide and Princess Leader for them. He was both a Cub Scout Den Leader and an Assistant Boy Scout Leader with David, and is still an Assistant Leader. He just gave up the Troop Treasurer position of Jennifer's Girl Scout Troop after five years. Currently, David works for Raytheon Systems Company, C3I Segment, Garland Division, Facilities Department (formerly E-Systems, Garland Division) as a Facilities Engineer. He works as a project planner and coordinator, including reviewing departmental requirements, space planning, plan design, estimating project costs, and bidding both general contractor / subcontractor job requirements and costs. "Basically, we move anything from one person all the way up to a whole department or building, along with the design work."From May 1985 to August 1987, David started and ran his own interior finish out company, Tenant Finish Construction Company. His company successfully completed twenty-nine lease spaces until insurance costs and a tight economy caused my company to shut down. From April 1980 to May 1985, he worked as a Construction Manager for Baldwin-Harris Company in Dallas Texas. Then, from January 1977 to April 1980, he worked for the Real Estate Division of Southland Life Insurance Company, Dallas, Texas. He worked as the Manager of Building Construction at Southland Center (now Adams Mark) from January 1977 to July 1979, then was transferred to and worked for Southland Building Services as Manager of General Maintenance at Las Colinas from July 1979 to April 1980. From July 1976 to Jan. 1977, he worked for La Verne Yates Realtors in Dallas, Texas as a Realtor Associate selling residential property. He worked for J.W. Bateson Construction Company in Dallas, Texas from November 1974 to July 1976 as an estimator. From May 1971 through October 1974, David worked for Inwood Construction Company in Dallas, Texas as an Assistant Project Planner, Surveyor, and Draftsman. Part of that time I was lucky enough to work on the leisure land development of Tanglewood-On-Texoma, Inc. on Lake Texoma in Sherman/ Dennison, Texas area. |
